Stand Alone Novels
Throughout his career Benjamin Haas employed many pseudonyms with John Benteen being used the most. For his Westerns he also employed Richard Meade and Ben Elliott. The latter name was a tribute to his great aunts who were Elliotts who lived with the family for a time when he was child. North Carolina is heavily settled by the Scots and a large influx came in the late 1740s and 1750s "for pressing reasons of health," as the old records record. After the '45, lowland border Scots came here by way of Ulster or direct and the American Revolution in North Carolina was mostly gang warfare between rival clans.

| THE TRAIL ENDS AT HELL
Kilpatrick fought drought, floods, rustlers and Indians as he trailed four-thousand head of longhorns the thousand miles from Texas to the Kansas railhead. But it was only when he finally hit the raw new town of Gunsight that his troubles really began. Gunsight had started life as a town where cattle could be bought for the best price and the men who'd driven them there would get a fair shake of the whip. But now everything was different. Jordan Tully was the man who called the shots now, and Wayne Trask was the hired gun who saw that his orders were carried out. That put Tully at loggerheads with Kilpatrick. And as if that wasn't enough, Kilpatrick had to keep his eyes peeled for Rio Fanning, the young hothead who had sworn to kill him! Published July 01 2015 Recommended Price: $0.99/ £0.99 |

| CARTRIDGE CREEK
Cartridge Creek was a typical New Mexico cattle town, not unlike the ones Will Leatherman had known in his days as a trail hand. But now Will was a partner in San Antonio Development, and he had come to find out why the Southern Pacific was so eager to sell the town, and whether he and his partner could turn it into a profitable investment. It didn't take long to discover why the railroad wanted out; the town had become a haven for gunmen, and the two heavily-armed factions were on the verge of all-out warfare. The decent folk were ready to leave town, the ranchers had taken to driving their stock to another railhead, and the money-making possibilities seemed nil. But Will Leatherman had a strange feeling about Cartridge Creek, that somehow this town had more to offer than the usual business deal. Almost before he realized it, Leatherman found himself on the brink of finding something he'd almost forgotten he wanted, a place to really call home—or losing it forever. Then he knew he had to fight for Cartridge Creek. Published April 01 2014 Recommended Price: $0.99/ £0.99 |

| CONTRACT IN CARTRIDGES
Beneath his thighs, he could feel the sorrel's flanks pumping like bellows as the animal fought to crest the ridge with the last of its flagging strength. The horse was dead-beat, finished, after two fiercely cruel days of flight through the heat-blasted nightmare of the low border country with the posse always just a little behind. And because his mount was finished, Clell Yates knew now that he was finished, too.
That was the story of Clell Yates—a man with a rep, a man always on the run from somewhere, a man who seemed to draw posses like vultures to a rotting carcass. Now they had him cornered and it appeared that Clell would do no more running. In another minute, the posse would open up, and, this time there was no way out. ... | BROTHER BADMAN
A request from the father he never knew summoned him to the Circle M home ranch, brought Rae Marsh into Fletcher's Hole. He rode a long way to claim what was rightfully his, a share of a spread and a new life. But at the Circle M, a new beginning was not meant to be, for he had to challenge his own family. "I'm running this spread now," the man in the red shirt told Rae. "And we ain't hiring. Neither are we free lunch for grub line tramps. You git one meal, with the crew, an hour from now. Then you're on your way."
Rae Marsh drew in a long angry breath. "I'm part owner of this ranch and I don't figure on leaving in a hurry."
Red Shirt dropped his hand to the level of his holster. "The hell you say, stranger. You got two minutes to get off this land. Now–git!"
But what the man in the red shirt did not know was that you can't talk like that to a pardner of Billy the Kid, fresh from Lincoln County. Not if you want to stay above ground! Published August 01 2013 Recommended Price: $0.99/ £0.99 |
