James Butler Hickok is still working for the Pinkerton Detective Agency, and continuously looking over his shoulder to avoid meeting up with Calamity Jane.

Cheroots and Old Taylor bourbon are fine with Wild Bill, but not Janie. Jane is nearly always hot on darlin' Wild Bill's trail, even saves his life at times, especially now that a 'bruja' in Mexico has affirmed that Wild Bill is Jane's man and only true love.

Jane must camp out on the prairie as Calamity is banned from most villages and towns. She is too rowdy to have around civilized town folks. She always wants "to pull a cork" and before long she is as drunk as can be. When that happens she wants to pull not only a cork but a six-shooter as well and take aim at other people's parts.

Wild Bill is being called back to Abilene, a town where he earlier carried a lawman's star and now detests. Abilene is a town where two assassins using a Big Fifty with a scope & tripod are killing at will, especially KP surveyors, attempting to shut down the Kansas Pacific railroad expansion activities. Looks like the S.F.R.R. is behind the whole thing. Wild Bill and Josh must catch these two deadly shots while at the same time keep from being killed by the deadly duo.
